Everyday CoJourner: An Outreach Training with Gabor and Edina Gresz

  • First Evangelical Church 735 Ridge Lake Blvd. Memphis United States (map)

Saturday, November 18, 9:00–11:45 a.m., Fellowship Hall
Our outreach team’s mission is to mobilize First Evaners to reach out to others where they play, live, learn, and work for Jesus’ Kingdom.

To best understand where our church was, we visited Sunday schools and heard their evangelism stories.

We asked what First Evaners think were the top challenges and desires of our church when it comes to evangelism?

Here is what we have found:

  • Nearly 50% of First Evaners want to feel successful when they reach out to others.

  • We don’t want to hurt our relationships every time we talk about faith.

  • We want to be able to build deeper relationships.

  • We don’t want to force religion by talking at them.

  • We want to have good conversations where we listen, ask compelling questions, and discuss deep questions with our non-believers around us.

Does this apply to you?

Upcoming Training
Based on our findings, our longtime missionary friends from Cru, Gabor and Edina Gresz, and their Sent 6:7 ministry would provide what we need.

Sent 6:7 focuses on the spiritual multiplication of Christian communities. Its foundation is the belief that everyone is on a spiritual journey, God is already at work in their lives, and He wants believers to join in their journeys. They call this journeying together Becoming a CoJourner.

Becoming a CoJourner is about having good conversations to understand non-believers well, be a friend through difficult questions and circumstances, share the hope found in Jesus in a way that is compelling to them, and support new believers during their Christian growth.

This is not just another training on Gospel presentation. It is also about relieving you from fear, burden, and anxiety around evangelism. It will be about helping us see Kingdom building as a normal, natural, and everyday aspect of following Jesus.

Join Us
You know that caring about the relationships between God and our friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, and others is the reason why Jesus keeps us on earth. We are his plan. And there is no plan B.

So you are invited on Saturday, November 18. There will be light breakfast and snacks. Childcare will be provided for those who need it. We also have a gift for the first 120 registrants in preparation of the upcoming holiday season.

Our desire is that learning to have good conversations about faith with our non-believing friends becomes the DNA of First Evan. That we care about in our communities—whether that is Sunday school, shepherding elders and their flock, Heart to Heart, or group of friends. You get to reserve a table, or 2, or 3, for your community so that you can discuss, learn, practice, prayer, and continue together.
