Report of the Deacons

Report of the Deacons
May 20, 2018

Thank you for your prayers and financial gifts this past year which supported staff, ministry initiatives, and caring for our facility. Your gifts have made an impact in both tangible and intangible ways. Salaries for pastors, staff, and ministry activities were provided. Facility challenges and needs were met. The Lord is using the people of First Evan to impact our body and those around us. We get to hear some of these in our God at Work stories on Sunday mornings.

We finished the calendar year 2017 with strong giving to provide a surplus as we rounded into the early months of 2018. This surplus usually carries us through the balance of the year as giving sometimes drops off early in the new calendar year. We trust that with your continued support we will finish 2017-2018 fiscal year meeting the budget.

To date, ministry expenses are slightly behind what was budgeted. This is good. It means we are stewarding the funds and programs well. Ministry fund giving is ahead of last year, and just above what was budgeted.

We do anticipate some building repair needs in the next month or two as our facility ages. There are window repairs needed throughout the facility and floor replacement needs in some of our high traffic areas and where tiny knees and hands crawl on the carpet. Our fire alarm system has aged beyond feasible repairs and must be replaced. Additionally, there are potential upgrades in the children’s ministry areas under consideration.

The deacons have worked closely along with the elders and pastoral staff to develop a very practical ministry budget. Your continued gifts will fund the 2018-2019 annual budget, which will be considered at the congregational meeting on May 20. Pray the deacons will continue to be good stewards of the financial and physical resources that God has entrusted to us. We ask for your continued prayers for First Evangelical Church, the body, support staff, pastors, and leadership as we serve alongside one another, honoring the Lord in what we do while worshipping Him daily in our lives.

Respectfully submitted,
