Workshop Descriptions

SESSION 1
9:30–10:15 a.m.

  • Parenting in the Busyness: Jane Raspberry
    Develop the spiritual foundation of our children while managing the busyness of family. (Parenting)

  • Emotions: Let Them Guide But Not Rule: Terri Bernardini Thompson, LPC
    This small group will explore how to identify and manage our emotions. Workshop will be discussion format and include Q&A time. (Emotional health)

  • Hand Embroidery: Mary Minor (Cost: $5)
    Create a simple hand embroidery design while learning how  these activities develop our spiritual formation. (Making)

  • What Do I Do Now?: Gail Alverson and panel
    Life can throw us curveballs regardless of our life stage (divorce, empty nest, retirement, widowhood). What do we do when our identity changes? How do we find our place when life changes? (Purpose)

  • Guarding Your Journey: Joanne Shidler
    Joanne will share from personal experience how to walk through the Christian life when "life" gets in the way with faithfulness, hope and mercy. (Spiritual Life/Marriage)

  • Women in Ministry: Crickett Keeth 
    Do you feel limited in what you can do as a woman in the church? This workshop will explore what Scripture has to say about the ministry of women and how we can use our giftings in the Body of Christ. (Spiritual Life)

  • Being a Good Neighbor is Easier than You Think: Debbie Park and Leigh Sistrunk
    Join Debbie and Linda as they discuss why our homes are such an important place of care and ministry, not only for our families but others, and how easy can be, regardless of your income level. (Hospitality)

  • Praying the Names of God: Dotsy Liles
    When we don't know what to pray, the names of God found in Scripture can help direct us. Join Dotsy as she shares from recent experience how to find comfort in the struggles of life by praying the names of God. (Prayer)

BOTH HOURS

  • Coffee and Conversation 
    Sometimes a good conversation with a new or old friend is the best use of our time. The Coffee Bar and Fellowship Hall will be available both hours.

  • Neighborhood Walk 
    A non-guided event; Grab a friend and bundle up for a walk in the office park or nearby neighborhoods. Meet by the receptionist desk to include anyone else.
