Janene “Crickett” Keeth grew up in Plain Dealing, Louisiana and graduated from L.S.U. (Geaux, Tigers!) with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. Shortly afterwards, she went on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ where she served six years in the campus ministry at Louisiana Tech and Western Kentucky University, and then served four years in East Asia. She returned to the U.S. to go back to school in Houston, Texas, for a degree in perfusion technology (running the heart lung machine in open-heart surgery). After 5 years in Houston, she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she continued to work as a perfusionist and part time on staff with Northwest Bible Church as the Associate Minister to Single Women and later as the Women’s Ministry Associate. She graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2005 with a Masters in Christian Education (Women’s Ministry track). She joined the staff of First Evan as the Director of Women’s Ministries in October of 2005. Crickett is single (never married) and has two adorable cats, Peyton and Little Bit. She loves movies, games, and working puzzles in her “spare” time.
- Life verse: “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men; knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve (Colossians 3:23-24).”
- Favorite foods: I love seafood and steak and chocolate and sweet tea!
- Favorite movie and why: I don’t have a favorite. I watch every movie looking for spiritual application, and so I like them all.
- Hobbies/Pastimes/Interests: I love to watch LSU and other SEC football, as well as the Dallas Cowboys. I love fishing and hiking when I have time outdoors. I also enjoy a good “game night” with friends.
- Ambitions/Aspirations: I love to write and teach and I hope to continue to have opportunities to do that. I have “dreamed” about climbing Mt. Everest, but I realize that will never happen.
- What do you like to read: Before seminary I loved to read historical fiction by Bodie Thoene and anything by Francine Rivers. I also liked to read books about mountain climbing adventures (like Everest) and other historical narratives. Since seminary, I have not read as much.
- People are surprised to know: I went sky diving and climbed two 14,000 foot mountains in Colorado. I was also the first girl trombone player in the LSU Tiger Marching band.
- Best counsel/advice you’ve ever been given: “Make an impact with your life by investing in someone else’s life” (Howard Hendricks). And “Pick your battles” (Vickie Kraft, Kay Daigle).
