Jeremy Bratcher is originally from Dallas, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Midwestern State University and a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. Jeremy has served in student ministry for over twelve years. He moved to First Evan with his wife Corrie and four children Daniel, Anagrace, Emma, and Julia in January of 2007.
Jeremy digs U2, superheroes, Seattle Grunge (and coffee), Memphis BBQ, and movies (especially ones where things go BOOM!). In his spare time, he likes camping, canoeing, playing ball, having tea parties with his little girls...real manly stuff. Deep down Jeremy says he is, “a space nerd—who likes stars, planets and NASA.” His childhood dream was to be an astronaut—really.
Jeremy has spoken at youth venues all across the country and has been featured as a regular contributor for Living Life: A Journal for Spiritual Formation.
- Life verse: “And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” (Romans 5:5).
- Favorite foods: I like meat…yeah, meat…it does the body good.
- Favorite movie and why: The Shawshank Redemption because as Andy, one of the major players in the movie says, “Hope is a good thing, maybe the greatest of things.”
- Ambitions/Aspirations: I would like to take my family on mission trips on six inhabitable continents…show them the people and the world that God loves so much. On a less noble scale, I’d like to have at least one book published, see U2 in concert and attend the Super Bowl in 2011 (it will be the first Super Bowl in Dallas, TX and hopefully the Cowboys will be in it).
- What do you like to read: Typically I read NY Times bestselling non-fiction. Cultural religion and mythology are always fun reads. I also enjoy Eugene Peterson, Malcolm Gladwell, Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, C.S. Lewis, Len Sweet and Donald Miller. Occasionally, I’ll sneak a read through SLAM or Pro Football weekly.
- People are surprised to know: I really don’t like The Office.
- Best counsel/advice you’ve ever been given: “Stop asking God to bless your work. Find where God is working and join Him because it’s already blessed.” (Bono, lead singer of U2, while speaking at a fundraiser in Dallas, TX).
